Swedish Institute is seeking dynamic instructors to join its faculty.

Dean of Nursing Program

Swedish Institute, a college of Health Sciences in Manhattan, is launching an associate degree program in registered nursing and seeks an experienced nurse educator.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic academic leader who can develop and manage the program. The dean will work actively with the New York State Department of Education and educational accrediting bodies to ensure the development and approval of the program. The director must have a clear vision of nursing education and the leadership skills to realize this vision.

 

Job Description

The dean of nursing will:

  • Communicate effectively with state educational bodies and accrediting agencies.
  • Establish program objectives and outcomes and ensure they are met.
  • Work with local hospitals to establish clinical rotation sites.
  • Help design an effective admissions process.
  • Oversee all curriculum development and implementation.
  • Hire and oversee training of faculty.
  • Work with faculty to create effective course materials.
  • Design and equip the physical facilities.
  • Teach courses as needed.

 

Requirements

  • New York State registered nurse with master's degree or doctorate in nursing or education.
  • Administrative experience in a college level academic setting. Previous experience as a director of a nursing program is preferred.
  • Teaching and curriculum development experience in a nursing program.
  • Hospital-based nursing experience.
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative management style.

Campus Information

Swedish Institute was founded in 1916 and has the oldest, continuously operating Massage Therapy Program in the country. It has maintained its commitment to a holistic approach to health through the decades, adding an Acupuncture Program in 1996 and a Personal Training certificate course in 2004. The school has a track record of helping students succeed in passing their state exams and succeeding in their chosen professions.

Massage Therapy Program

We are looking for New York State licensed massage therapists, or other health professionals, with a minimum of three years experience in their related field, who are eager to share their expertise and are committed to creating a positive learning experience for students. We anticipate openings for the following positions:

Instructor - Pathology and/or Anatomy and Physiology

Minimum qualifications include - NYS LMT or equivalent, 3 years experience in the field, MS or higher in Biological Sciences or related health profession. Teaching experience a plus.
