A clinician should cultivate the ways of Heaven and Earth, understand the dynamics of the human spirit, and ponder the depths of Nature. One will then grasp the Tao.

Accreditation

Accreditation is a non-governmental, peer evaluation process that an educational institution voluntarily undergoes in order to ensure that its students receive a consistent quality of education. There are no federal regulations that govern institutes of higher education and the states assume varying degrees of control, and as a result American educational institutions can vary widely in the character and quality of their programs. A school that endeavors to maintain a high level of academic excellence will take the time and effort to go through the accreditation process.

The accreditation process helps prospective students by identifying schools that meet established standards. In addition, accreditation helps institutions determine acceptability of transfer credits, establishes criteria for professional certification and licensure, and generally will raise the standards of academic programs being offered.

Most institutions attain eligibility for Federal funds by holding accredited status with one of the accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The Swedish Institute’s programs are registered with and regulated by the New York State Education Department.

The Swedish Institute is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology also accredits the Acupuncture Program. The ACCSCT can be contacted at: 2101 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 302, Arlington, VA 22202, Phone 703.247.4212, www.accsct.org.

The Acupuncture Program of the Swedish Institute is also accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), which is the recognized accrediting agency for the approval of programs preparing acupuncture and Oriental medicine practitioners. ACAOM is located at 7501 Greenway Center Drive, Suite 820, Greenbelt, MD 20770, Phone (301) 313-0855, Fax (301) 313-0912.

The Acupuncture Program is a member of the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM).

For more information on accreditation go to the U.S. Department of Education (www.ed.gov) or to the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (www.acaom.org).
