Personal Training Program

The Swedish Institute was founded in 1916 to teach medical gymnastics, a fitness system that included exercise, breathing and massage techniques. We have had a Massage Therapy Program ever since. In 2004 we added a Personal Training Program, and we are proud and excited to reunite these disciplines within our school.

The Personal Training Program provides an innovative curriculum that benefits those entering the fitness field, massage therapists wanting to expand their practices, personal trainers seeking higher levels of certification, and those simply interested in learning about fitness, exercise and the human body. The Personal Training Program consists of 415 hours for those who have not taken any anatomy or physiology classes. For students who meet the anatomy and physiology requirements (such as licensed massage therapists, acupuncturists or certain other allied health care professionals) the program consists of 160 hours taken two afternoons a week during two 10-week terms.

Graduates of the program receive a Swedish Institute Advanced Personal Training certificate and are prepared to take national certification exams given by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
