Massage Therapy Research ConsortiumEmbarking on an historic venture, the Swedish Institute has joined with nine other schools in the U.S. and Canada to create a Massage Therapy Research Consortium. All of the schools in the Consortium share a strong commitment to the pursuit of research in the field of massage therapy. Our initial goals are to develop a network for the exchange of ideas, to create projects aimed at increasing research literacy and capacity within our schools, and to foster partnerships with researchers at universities and medical institutions in our communities. As a Consortium, we are beginning to develop our own research studies and to consult with established CAM researchers on a variety of projects. Building our research capacities, with all of the accompanying rewards and challenges, is crucial to the long range goal of establishing cost effective, evidence-based practices for our profession.
