Times of Celebration
Swedish Institute on-line newsletter for our students, faculty and community.
The Swedish Institute, in its typically unique style, recently observed the graduation of students from the Acupuncture Program as well as the Massage Therapy Program. Graduates, who had completed their studies in December, happily gathered with relatives and friends to celebrate in late January.
The speakers at both celebrations reflected the creative spirit so common in the Swedish
Institute community. Their talks, presented below with their permission, give voice to the
heart of many of the students and teachers.
Keynote speech by Acupuncture graduate
Vanessa Hortian

that WE MADE IT! Read more.
Reflections on mastery by Acupuncture graduate
Michael Ng
Contrary to our perceptions, our learning in the world of acupuncture has only just begun.
Acupuncture is an art. One that is tactile, social and like a tsunami; it starts off with

years to come. Read more.
The Power of Touch
faculty member Ushasi Jill Thompson, MDiv, LMT

with me know that at times I am prone to taking a pause, looking at them and saying, "When the
revolution comes..." Read more.
Keynote speech by Massage Therapy graduate Christopher Shelley
First, on behalf of all of us, I would like to give thanks to all of our teachers, without whom
the classes would have been very awkward. Thanks to all of you for making it so much more fun
to watch TV shows like 'House' and 'ER', now that we know the medical lingo.
